Canon T5 power problems

Charging via USB isn't supported

I tend to go through my 2 batteries pretty quick while doing video, I have a power bank that I would like to hook up to power it but when I try it just shows up as a usb connected. Is there a setting I am missing or does the T5 not support this feature?

it`s possible that the usb port only supports data transfer, but not power delivery

That was my first thought but then I wondered if there might be a setting. I could not find one though so I thought maybe I was just too tired and someone on here might be able to find it if it exists.

I checked the site and it only mentioned the battery size. I am not a member of other forums and found nothing from a few google searches.

hhmmm, I still believe that those usb ports are not connected with the battery, but are only for data transfer.

My older Canon does the same thing, but not sure about that model.

Canon and Nikon cameras do not allow charging by USB. The USB connection is only for data transfer.  If you want extended power, get a battery grip like this and buy more spare batteries.

Or if you are recording video in a location that has power outlets, get an AC adapter.

Additionally you can try using a large power pack like this, however you still need an adapter/cable that will bridge the connection between this power pack and the battery port of your camera.

The only cameras I know that support USB power are some Sony cameras.
