Otg cable

Hi all!

So I bought a cheap otg cable for my phone, and it doesn't seem to work for me. It didn't detect my pendrive, My phone is otg compatible, so I don't think thats the problem. The pendrive is usb 3.0, maybe that is the issue. I knew my phone probably couldn't handle the speed of the pendrive, but I thought that at least I'll be able to use it at slower speed. So should I keep trying with more expensive cables, or the usb 3.0 is the issue, and it won't work anyway? I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, and a Kingston Datatraveler HyperX 3.0 Thank you in advance, and happy new year!:)
