I have an ISO for Windows 10 right now. Will my 8.1 key work even after the free upgrade expires?

Don't feel like going to Windows 10 right now as it breaks ENB... so yeah. Will it work when I feel like it?

only if you upgrade your 8.1 to 10. then the registration is complete.

otherwise if the 8.1 key is not upgraded to 10 within the time period, it will not be free.

Guess I'm using unlicensed Windows 10 for a while when I upgrade.

The free upgrade registers your hardware with Microsoft for Windows 10. You don't actually get a license, just your hardware info put into a database on MS servers. In fact, when you do a clean re-install after upgrading, you don't even put in a license and it'll automatically activate once you connect to MS servers and they recognize the hardware. However, if you swap hardware (like say a motherboard) after the Windows 10 upgrade, you're basically up shit creek without a paddle because you were never given a real license.

Yep. I will get a key eventually. No worries, just like I got one for 8.1.
