just cause keeps freezing seems to be around 5 minuets after every time i launch the game. the fps starts dropping and the audio keeps stuttering and then i get a black screen and the only was i found to quit it is to press "start + L" to lock my pc.

i have a 4690k @ stock, gtx 970 strix, 8gb fury ram, gigabyte z97x gaming 5 mobo, 2x1tb wd blue in raid 0 and a 600w psu 

all the settings are maxed out 

i am also running the game @ 2560x1080

I've had a similar issue. I think the way a fixed it was a fresh install.

 

but try these first if you haven't already:

1. Verify integrity of game cahce through steam (always first point of call)

2. Turn off decals (this is apparently one of the greatest causes to instability in the game, for personal example ic ould only get about half an hour out of my game before a crash with it on, i could play indefinitely with it off)

3. Remove any mods

4. Verify again

5. Update/Check GPU drivers (probably not the cause since the game is quite old now, but a common cause of game instability)

6. Delete local content (through steam) and re-download
