DTS-HD Playback Issue

Go to solution Solved by 4321Rocket,

Ya so I installed a trial version of Cyberlink DVD Ultra 14 and the problem disappeared. Therefore as I stated, it was a software issue. Problem resolved; don't use WinDVD Pro 11,

Hi,

I recently built an HTPC and installed a trial version of windvd pro 11. I'm playing hunchback of notre damn and my receiver can detect the DTS-HD MA track and I can hear the audio from it. However, within a few minutes, my receiver immediately cuts the audio for a second and displays "DIAL NORM +4" and this happens at random times. I've so far tried switching cables and inputs but that isn't working. I'm hoping this is related to my PC as I no longer have warranty on my receiver. I've also updated my receiver to the latest firmware and am still having this issue.

Please help me ASAP as I want to watch a blu ray movie hopefully within the next few hours.

Thank You,

4321Rocket

Have you looked at your reciever's manual?

That's the link to my manual. I checked on page 81 and I've done the steps they said to solve the issue and its still giving me issues.

Ok so regarding that. The only driver I need is the graphics one by intel right? (My htpc rig only has i5 4430 with intel hd4600 graphics). I'm pretty sure I didn't install them initially but windows must have installed it. When I go to Intel's site and grab the latest driver, it apparently says the one windows download is more up to date. Should I have intel's drivers overwrite the windows installed drivers?

Up to you, all part of troubleshooting.

The message "DIAL NORM +/-#" is normal and part of a feature in Dolby Digital AC3 encoded audio that allows for the receiver to automatically adjust volume up or down for certain scenes as a part of DIALog NORMalization. The receiver just displays the message as a friendly notice to let you know what it is doing.

Hm.. so if that's normal then I guess I can ignore it. The main issue is the audio just continuously dropping out regardless of the sound track being played with WinDVD Pro 11 trial. The funny thing is that it works fine with youtube videos and my blu ray player. I'm going to try plugging it in directly to the tv and see if I still have issues.
