Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my CPU ( i5 4460 3.2 GHz ) to i5 4690k or i7 4790k. I am not sure which one should I chose. I do not have such a big budget, so my questions are:

  • Is there big difference between i7 4790k and i4 4960 and is it worth paying more for i7 ?
  • What other CPU would you recommend ? ( I am open for AMD )
  • In your opinion should I upgrade my CPU ?. If yes which one should I chose ?

What are you using it for? Also, get the i7 if your looking to upgrade, the i5s only difference is that it could be overclocked.

What's your current GPU? It's probably a better investment to upgrade the GPU rather than your CPU.

No but in games like in H1Z1, FPS go really low because of amount of people on one server, but in GTA V I have a lot more FPS because there are mostly 16 people per one session.

the jump from 4460 to 4690K is negligible, 4790K would be greater. but still small, and frankly not worth the extra cost.

is your CPU actually causing a bottleneck? what GPU do you have? (on a side note it's the only thing your profile doesn't have listed) if it's something like a 980ti then it wouldn't be unreasonable to get a faster CPU, anything lower I'd say no

I'd say no then, I'm using the 4690K, with my 970 and it rarely gets above 60% usage, and a 4460 is at least 80% as powerful as an OCed 4690K, like 95% if the 4690K is at stock speeds. and actually, speaking of overclocking, what motherboard do you have?
