External HDD stopped working!

Go to solution Solved by SpamBrie,

Fixed it guys. For some reason my Network drives had reconfigured their drive paths so they were both drive F: but when I click on the Network Drive it brings up the external hard drive just have to re assign the path.

Thanks

Hi, I have owned my Western Digital My Passport 0740 for just over a year now, I think. But it has suddenly stopped working. When I plug it into my USB 3 ports I here the windows chime but it does not show up on Hard Disk Drives as it normally does. I have tried using different USB ports 2 and 3 and reinstalling drivers.

Don't know what is going on. Can anyone help?

Thank You

Also, if that doesn't work, is the HDD making a clicking noise?

Can you here it spinning?

Does the HDD make any loud-ish of noises? And have you remembered to safely remove it?

I can hear it spinning but it is no louder than normal. Also my other memory stick works.

So it's not the disk. But have you remembered to do the safe remove thing in Windows? It's rare, but it can brick your harddrive to just pull it out.

Also have you tried a different cable?
