Hello,

I recently worked on my friend's new computer (new install of W7 Home Premium) and when I run a game (Dota 2 as an example) the FPS is noticeably low even at the very LOWEST settings!

Here is his pc's spec:

CPU: AMD A4-6300 APU with Radeon HD Graphics (Two-core) at 3.7Ghz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 TI 2GB

Motherboard: Does it matter?

PSU: EVGA 500w

I've updated the graphic drivers as I thought that would be it but there was no difference.

Though Windows Updates are not fully installed yet, but would that affect the performance at all?

What I notice as well is that when I run Dota 2 the CPU is literally running at 100%, even when the game is at the lowest settings.

Is this because the CPU is inadequate? Looking at Youtube videos of the same rig they all seem to be running at normal FPS.

Please help!

Thanks

the mobo or GPU?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The monitor is plugged into the GPU

Nope, I've closed all other tasks. Even at idle running Chrome at the moment the CPU is on 50%, sometimes shooting up to 100% for some unknown reason

How would this affect the usage?

I've done this to my personal PC and I've had no problems since day 1.

I'll be sure to avoid this in the future but I would like to know the reason

I seen non-legit windows riddle with hidden with coin mining virus

which may explain the high CPU load

my Core 2 Duo which is a slower CPu could run Win 8.1/10

Correction: the Windows is a legit ISO from Microsoft but it was activated using an activator...

Will an anti-virus and anti-malware remove these backdoor links or should I start from scratch?

start from scratch

get proper Windows key

download all the patches and install Malwarebytes and Bit-deffender

WEll get a legit windows and then see if the problem still persists, which I doubt it.

I've now got a legit windows and yes, the problem is still there. 100% on CPU when running Dota 2 at low or high settings

Sorry to say but, more than likely you do have a CPU bottleneck.

What settings do you have set for windows personalization? Try changing the theme to Windows Classic. (it will look like windows 95-2000 but will release a bit of the CPU load)

Go to your advanced system settings and change your visual effects to "Adjust for best performance" then adjust your page file to the maximum allowed.

The only thing we have to fear is... Stupidity...

it must be a cpu bottleneck. but i wouldnt think the 6300 would be that bad.  i used to have a 750ti and could play most things at high settings and be more than playable.   but if your cpu is at 100% then thats your issue.
