Hi everybody,

I'm building my first serious Desktop PC and I would like to know you opinions about some of the items.

1. Budget & Location

My budget is around $1400, my location is Europe, Hungary.

2. Aim

My aim is to build a good all around PC, which can be used for gaming (e.g. Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor or the newest games at the time), browsing, watching movies, rendering RAW files in Photoshop, etc.

3. Monitors

Currently I'm on a single monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, it's possible that I'll be using dual monitors in the future.

4. Peripherals

I'm all set

5. Why are you upgrading?

I'm using a Lenovo Y580, and it's time to migrate to a Desktop PC

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500

CPU cooler: CRYORIG H7

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-B150-HD3P

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-RAM 16GB PC4-19200 Kit

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB WD10EZEX

VGA: MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G 4GB or Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro 8GB PCIe

Case: NZXT Source 530 ATX Full Tower Case

PSU: Seasonic SSR-550RM or EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS 650W

Thermal Compound: Arctic Cooling MX-4

Coolers: 2x Corsair AF140 (CO-9050009-WW)

Total: ~$1170

I've looked into deeply all of the items in this list and now I'm indecisive about some of them, party because the reviews are so mixed.

Lets start with the CPU, I'm not planning to do any overclocking (I don't have much experience in it, and I kinda wants stuff to perform out of the box, I'm too much used to BMW I guess), so that's why I chose a non "K" version, but I'm not sure if this is strong enough for this build.

About the motherboard, same story, no OC, but still might need a little better.

One of the areas where I'm the most confused at is the VGA department... should I chose between the R9 390 and the GTX 970 or save up for a 390X or even GTX980?

Power supply, well what I'm looking for is a quality 550-650W semi or preferably fully modular PSU for a reasonable price.

I've already ordered the CRYORIG H7 CPU Cooler because it's hard to get in Hungary and I have to wait a month to get it.

if you could find one with your budget you could stretch to a 6700 for the higher clock speed and hyperthreading, and you could go for a Z170 motherboard as they are usually better quality and have more features than B150 which is meant to be a lower end business chipset, but other than that that build should serve you well for a fair few years.

I can't really budge that.

Change the cooler for a 212 Evo (similar price), and maybe see if you can stretch for a 6600(K).

cryorig coolers are better than a 212 evo, and are much more aesthetically pleasing.

It's a good build. While the motherboard is not loaded with features, it does have a good set that should meet your needs.

I would suggest an R9 390. Two reasons, if you ever decide to move to a higher resolution it will do a better job. (Edit: forget the second reason.)

The psu is very good. A little better than the EVGA GS 650.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I've thought about getting an i7-6700, however it costs almost double as the i5-6500, and I cant really justify that.

What Z170 motherboard would you recommend? Maybe GIGABYTE GA-Z170-HD3P?

If I stick with the R9 390, which modell would you recommend? Considering the fact that the Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro is the longest of all, it's still likely to fit in NZXT Source 530?
