Need your opnion

Go to solution Solved by NannerBeans,

Really?

There are a few issues with reselling that thing.

The first is that not many people are in the market for a server and most people that are, will want equipment that's not ancient. If they're going to drop $1000 on a server, might as well be a better one than that. Second, you can't trust ebay prices for old items like this. Sellers highly inflate their prices because of the rarity of these because they are old but no one really wants them. Their true value is probably closer to what you're paying. Third, the item is big and bulky. I would expect it to cost anywhere from $50-$100 to ship that thing. Add in selling fees and you end up with a lot less than you were expecting.

So there's this really good deal on a server I found on craigslist, and was wondering if its worth buying and re-selling on ebay, or the classifieds. Here's a link to the server, and I'll have the specs listed below too.

https://nashville.craigslist.org/syd/5345655555.html

HP Proliant DL585 G7

2x AMD 6128 2GHz processors, total of 16 cores, 16 threads.

16GB DDR3

2x Finisar PCI-Express Fiber Channel Adapter

1 Quad port Gigabit NIC

Redundant power supply

6x 2.5" SAS 73GB drives

Here are the pictures from the Craigslist listing:

All for the price of $500

The server is currently going for $10,000 on ebay, and I'm wondering if I should hop on and make some profit, or just get this bad ass server.
