Depends on application.

 

But I would guess that those AMD cards are better than the 960.

I was wondering between the 280 280x 390 390x and GTX 960 what is the best card.

R9 380 = better than GTX 960

R9 390 = bettter than GTX 970

R9 390X = better in some games than the GTX 980

R9 Fury = better than GTX 980

GTX 980ti = better than R9 Fury X in some games

980 > 390X > 390X > 970 > 380X > 380 > 960

If your including ppd the 290 is the best at 244$ 214$ after a promotion.
