What is the difference?

Whats the difference between the Corsair RM550 and the Corsair CS550M?

I know the CS550M is cheaper, but is the RM550 better?

Its weird because its has the same power.

The RM series is a little better made, a Tier 2 PSU

The CS series is a little cheaper but still a good PSU at Tier 3.

Basically you pay more for better parts. If i was you i would go with the RM, depending on the price. Your PSU is nothing to cheap out on. Not the the CS series is a bad choice.

There are a few differences.  The CSM is manufactured by a different factory and has cheaper components.

The RM is full modular and the CSM is modular.  Meaning the 24 pin is hardwired into the PSU on the CSM, and not on the RM.

Also the RM is more efficient and has a more powerful 12V rail.

Different series. RM is better but not so worth the price (I got one myself, but with a good deal).

Corsair isn't that great any more, as in the good PSUs aren't worth the money.

They have the same wattage (550w in this case) but the quality isn't the same (RM is better). The efficiency is different too (CS 80+ Bronze while RM 80+ Gold).

Good PSUs:

Seasonic: anything.

XFX: anything.

EVGA: GS/GQ/G2/P2

High-end Corsair PSU's are just as competitively priced as any other PSU manufacturer... Only their low end costs a bit more than the rest.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!
