so the MSI GE62 Apache-276 has 3 m.2 sata slots?

hammerslap1

so the MSI GE62 Apache-276 has 3 m.2 sata slots? 2 of the slots are just m.2 sata slots but the third is m.2 sata/ pci-e x4 slot.... why is none of that written in the item description lol...

my mind was blown when I opened it up and saw that lol...

for $799 USD I got the laptop and purchased a Samsung 850 evo m.2 for 77 bucks... so I now have Intel Ci7-5700HQ, 15.6" Laptop With 12GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive, plus a 256 gig m.2 ssd. all for less than 900 bucks all thanks to black Friday and I didn't even have to wait in line... I went after work in the evening lol same laptop without the ssd is now 1100 bucks.

corsair 600t, msi z87-g45, intel 4770k, 16g patriot viper low-pro ram, asus direct cu2 780, crucial 256gig ssd, seagate baracuda 1tb,

I have a GE62 2QE Apache and I believe it's similar to yours.  Mine has it listed as having 3 M.2 slots, the 3rd being a combo SATA/PCIE slot.  MSI also advertises this as Super Raid 0, where they pair THREE SSD's in RAID 0 for over 1500Mbps of bandwidth.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

Question - how's the cooling on it? I've heard some contradicting stuff about MSI's cooling solutions

seems to be doing fine to me... I don't run all those benchmarks but I can say I was running fallout4 for about an hour and it didn't seem to get any warmer than any other laptop I have ever dealt with... maybe it can be a bit loud for some people if both fans are maxxed out but I game with a headset anyways so no biggie.

thanks again Don for recommending this one over the other one I was asking about before... I cant belive it has 3 m.2 slots that aren't advertised anywhere for that model

why on earth isn't it just listed as a bullet point? you know how many folks would probably buy it knowing it has 3 m.2 expansion slots

no dude - Gigabyte laptops have simply dreadful cooling - gaming on my laptop legitimately hurts my lap. And that's through thick, fleece-lined hiking trousers. it's not suffocating the laptop or anything, it's just that the bottom gets so damned hot...

Oh its a great laptop! but it also can get hot especially on the surface where the user touches

Its a good choice no doubt but not perfect (none are though)

I got some very nice chips - so mine only warms up (compared to a friend whose actually gets hot :D)

The only thing that worries me a bit is the plastic hinge.

Yeah - when it opens it makes a sort of click-like noise so my Paranoia activated :D - it's fine - it opens and closes normally but I don't like that it tripped my OCD so I constantly would check it for issues by pressing on it lightly a few days until I decided to just leave it alone today since the only thing I might do is cause issues myself.

I envy my Sis' Thinkpad - it has fucking Steel Hinges xD

Yep - I don't get why Lenovo didn't go all out on them too - the rest is full aluminum and/or matte thick plastic that hardly bends. This is the ONLY cheap thing I've identified. For a 850$ laptop - it's solid. Cooling is nice for me (75*C CPU and 68*C GPU usually when gaming). Keyboard is the best. Literally the best. Screen is also good - that pixel density <3

Kid in one of my classes has the same problem with his. Freaks me out when he opens and closes it!

I have the GE62 Apache pro, thing is great. Doesn't ever get hot. I used to have a GS60, that thing sucked. Was a beautiful laptop but mine got wicked hot. I'd play some game that barely used the GPU and it would be so hot on the bottom I couldn't touch it. Right before it died, was getting upto 80 degrees C browsing the internet. I have no idea wtf happened but I'm wary of the Ghost/Stealth series now :/

My Y50 remains relatively cool honestly - the keyboard area gets warm but nothing I would classify as hot.
