Any benefits?

Rainbrew

Currently unsure whether paying extra for a 4gb variant of the r9 380 makes sense for 1680x1050 gaming. It costs a fair bit more and I've heard that it's even a waste at 1080p most of the time. Thanks in advance!

Are you looking to change your monitor for a 1080p monitor at any point in time? If so then I would go for the 4gb, if not then Its really up to you to decide if you want to spend the extra money.

You can play most games on ultra 1080p using 2GB VRAM, but if you want to for example play GTA V on ultra, or mod skyrim with high res texture packs then you will need atleast 3 GB VRAM
