Hi, I've been putting together a pc for the past month and I have finally got to the part of buying the GPU.

My config:

Mobo: Asus Z170-P

Memory: 1x 8GB DDR4 Kingstory FuryX  2133MHz

Processor: i7 6700k @ 4.4 GHz (note: oc ain't a must for me at this point, but it's just free performance sitting there)

Cooler CPU: Scythe Mugen 4 (with the 1x stock fan)

Case: Zalman Z3 Plus (4 fans; TOP: 2, FRONT: 1 + 1withLED)

HDD: WD 1TB @ 7200 rpm 64mb

PSU: SIRTEC 500W - 12cm Fan - Active PFC - 85% bronze cert. (full name: SIRTEC HPC-500-G12SBR/EP-500)

Display: Acer 21.5'' 1920x1080 + LG Flatron 2crap2matter 1280x1024

Interests:

- gaming with all the new titles at high/very high + possibly streaming

- Adobe AE + Sony Vegas (more like a hobby, but I would like to improve if the PC allows me to, but then again, gaming is first)

Questions:

GPU BUDGET: 300$

- will my PSU be enough for a GTX 970? If so, is there any better GPU that would work with the current PSU and would give me better performance overall?

I've spoken with the guy that helped me pick the right parts (more or less.. I just asked if they are good for the price) and I've got this list:

GTX960-400W
GTX970-500W

GTX980-600W
R9 380-500W
R9 390-600W
R9 390X-650W

I would really like to avoid going through the hassle of selling and buying a new PSU at this point, but I will if I really have to.

Yes you should be able to run the 970 off that PSU

Intel Core i7-6700k | 2 X Gigabyte 4GB GTX 970 Overclocked Edition | 16GB (4X4GB) DDR4 2133MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum | MasterCase Pro 5

ASUS Z170 Deluxe Motherboard | 256GB Samsung 840 Pro + Seagate 2TB Storage | Corsair Hydro H80i GT | Windows 10 Pro 64bit | Corsair HX850i

Fixed:

GTX960-350W
GTX970-350W

GTX980-400W
R9 380-400W
R9 390-450W
R9 390X-450W

the reason that high wattage power supplies are recommended is because lower wattage ones tend to be poor quality

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Thank you for the fast reply,

Is the GTX 970 the best given the circumstances? Also, which manufacturer should I go for?

This is one that's in my budget: http://www.altex.ro/asus-geforce-gtx-970-turbo-oc-4gb-gddr5-256-bit-hdmi-2xdvi-dp-turbo-gtx970-oc-4gd5  (330$)

There was a STRIX version earlier today but they all sold out.

What versions (I hope that's the right word here) of the GTX 970 should I look for?

I would like to get the best performance/price ratio, as close to 300$ as possible.

If you want the best in price/performance ratio, get an R9 390 for cheap. Do not get a STRIX or a Gigabyte 390.

Also, that 970 sounds like a vacuum cleaner when it gets hot.

How's this one (over the budget ~ 350$) compared to an r9 390 or gtx 970? I cant really find many benchmarks for it.

r9 390 acceptable price: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 NITRO 8GB DDR5 512-bit
