Intel NUC & Server 2012

Hi there fellow techtippers.

 

would it be possible to install windows Server 2012 onto a intel NUC ?

has anyone done this ?

the NUC components far out way the system requirments for server 2012 so i cant see why it wont be a problem installing server 2012 onto a NUC.

 

i dont want to go and buy everything only to find out it wont install .

The thing is, NUC's cost less than sever 2012.

Why do you want to install a $600 OS on a $300 nettop?

Officially no - there is no server 2012 support for the NIC's however I have seen people do work arounds.

Looks like two models at least somewhat support Server 2012 R2.

We have it running with potatos in my info tech class, so I dont see why not.

 

By potato i mean low end haswell pentium, logisys psu, 1 500gb hdd, 2gb ddr3 ram. Some random cheap gigabyte mobo.

 

So yeah... it will run on anything. With driver support, unless the manufacturer is a dick and checks OS before driver install, you'll be fine with 8/8.1 drivers.

well its not me its my clients. they want it like that so before i order and set it up for them just wanted to check.
