Hello,

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to build a full build; desktop, monitor, and gaming keyboard for $900 USD that is equal to or performs better than the Asus Rog G752 found here. If possible try to include a G-sync/Free-sync monitor as the laptop as G-sync support built in, also try to match the other specs of the G752 if possible, (16GB Ram, 1TB HDD, 128GB SSD, etc.)

The desktop will be used for gaming and streaming, Nivida is preferred, however I know it can get a bit pricey. So I'd like to see some AMD build as well if the budget can't contain Nivida.

Thank you for your time!

-Ridge

A simple R9 380 is about 10-15% faster than the 970M
A free-sync panel is not really needed if you have a 380 since you will get 60 fps pretty consistently
A simple i5 4690 performs the same as a 6700HQ since the Skylake chip has lower clocks
SSD is easy
16GB of RAM is pointless or can simply be upgraded.

I would like to build to have similar performance whilst also having similar features. Upgrading isn't an option at the time nor is going above the set $900 budget.

Passmark is not going to accurately portray games.

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6700HQ-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4440/m34954vs1993

If using all 4 hyper threads (which games do NOT) then you get 15% more from the Skylake chip. If using 4 cores (like games do) you get more from the i5.

Yes, the extra power from hyper threads would be needed for steaming however, unless it wouldn't cause that much of a performance hit to the i5?

An i5 is more than enough for streaming - so long as your internet is good you will have 0 issues. Games rely more on a beefy GPU, not CPU. The R9 380 is 15% faster than a 960 (desktop) and a 960 and 970m are pretty much tied usually with the 970m being ever so slightly ahead or behind. Not to mention a desktop has superior cooling potential.

Regardless I'm still interested in seeing a Nivida themed build if even possible. You also forgot a keyboard in the build btw

Keyboard is easy - get one you like for 20-30$ and call it a day.

For Nvidia - the only option is the 960 and that's 15% slower than a 380 average.

Desktop drivers aren't much better.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Guys, I know you're trying to be helpful and all, but if he wants to do livestreaming, you're not going to match the 6700HQ without an unlocked i5, or an entry level i7/Xeon like the 1231 v3

So that is true then? The i5 wouldn't be able to hold up to the i7 6700HQ during gaming and streaming?

Correct. You'd need an i5 from haswell near 3.9GHz or so to match a 6700HQ in streaming.

Buy the notebook. One simply cannot match the specs DIY. Several reasons. Standalone g-sync monitors are too expensive. Laptop includes Windows 10 license; dual band ac WiFi; Bluetooth; sd/mmc card reader; camera; and microphone.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
