Whats a good video conversion software?

I have a pvr and I need to be able to convert .wtv files from recordings on windows media player.

 

i tried freemake and its ok and all but it got flagged by my virus protection. Also handbrake isn't reliable and has caused 2 second delays on the 2 videos I converted.

Handbrake can do that, but since your having problems you could try VLC
