i've had this ASUS R9 280 for 10months and never ran into crashing or so. Now that Fallout 4 came out, i happened to check the GPU load and how hot it runs etc

When i'm ingame on Fallout 4, the GPU seems to be at 99% load at all times almost, except if i ramp up the settings and the fps isn't as smooth, it goes down to even 86% load. The thing is that the times i run it with the settings that give me the best performance ( 60-80fps), the card will stay at 99% load and just now it heated up to 92 and at that moment i closed the game. I tested same thing on a game like ARK: Survival and it never ever ran that hot. The fan speed went upto 92% too...

99% load is good and it means that your gpu is being utilized. The temps are pretty high though. What are your specs and how is your cooling currently laid out?

Try reapplying thermal paste but ASUS's AMD coolers tend to be lackluster anyways. 92C is technically fine, but I wouldn't run it like that.

Those temps are pretty high... 10 months isn't that long to have a graphics card so there shouldn't be too much of a buildup of dust, but still check your card and use some compressed air to clear out any dust that might clogging things up. Also, do you have dust filters on your case? If you don't then that can lead to a really fast buildup of dust inside your computer.

If temps are still high then try replacing the thermal paste on your GPU.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.
