I am so sick of this pre-built PC so I'm looking to upgrade my pc

I am taking parts from my current pc, such as

AMD fx-8350 cpu

10 gig of DDR3 ram

2tb hard drive

wireless chip

I will be needing a new

case (need a minimum of 3 usb ports, with mic port aswell) "mid tower"

gpu

power supply

and mother board

My budget is $600ish

I'd like a budget gaming pc that doesn't need to run everything on max.

I'd just grab a new PSU and GPU, maybe a case if airflow's not very good. I don't think you need a new mobo.

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

The one that is in his pre-built PC is most likely going to be crap, so i'd upgrade the mobo if possible.

You need a good motherboard for the FX 8XXX series motherboards, especially if you overclock to try and keep them from "bottlenecking" the GPU in single threaded loads.

Nowhere did he say he wanted to overclock. If he does, then yes, new mobo.

But an 8350's probably not going to bottleneck anything

Even if he does not overclock, the FX processor puts a lot of stress on the VRMs.

Losing FPS (bottlenecking the GPU) due to poor CPU performance happens, it depends on the games he plays.  That 390 is not a dinky card.

It should be fine, hell he might already have a higher end AMD board

Until he tells us what his current board is, it is hard to make a suggestion

well, first of all, i have $700 CAD "single tear of current value"

second of all, my mother board is crap, i believe it was called, Angelica 2, or so i believe its crap

and i dont need graphics card that good since i won't really be playing those high demanding games

mostly like, PS2, TERA, Rust, etc

So i was actually thinking of maybe a GTX 970, or maybe even a 960

I'd suggest 970 over a 960 anyday, unless budget is an issue.
