Need a new laptop

Hello ltt community! It has been a while since I've been active here due to school and work and as a result I've been somewhat out of the tech loop. I need a new laptop because my current one is and always has been a bit too bulky and big. I currently have a 17inch hp envy with a 3rd Gen i5 1tb HDD etc. I'd like to buy a new one that has the portability (size weight) of the MacBook pros and airs with a good battery life. Discrete graphics isn't a must I already have a good rig but can't hurt. Budget is below 8-900ish USD. Thanks!
