Hard drive formatting

Hello, so I got an ssd and I watched a video where Linus said to unplug your hdd before installing Windows, so I was wondering, should I format my hdd before or after? And also does my case have a slot for an ssd? http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811133179

It should have on on the bottom of the hard drive cage if im looking at the right case. And if the hdd is new you don't need to unplug it or if its old you don't need either just boot from usb/or dvd and install the windows and if you wan't to format you can format it in your new windows install
