Hey guys.

So the problem is that I can't do anything on my computer atm. And it's because today I was watching a show online and I got a BSOD with the error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

After that It just went on a restarting spree. Restarting every minute. Also when it was restarting it wasn't giving any display so I tried to turn it off by the power button and tried to turn it back on and it was just running without any display.

After I left it alone for an hour or so I tried to turn it on and it indeed turned on but only for a brief moment. After that I have tried to turn it on many times with but no luck. After every few hours it turn back on but I get BSOD with new errors like :

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP.

CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

So I tried to install Windows cus I thought that might fix the problem but with no luck. Still the same thing.

Aa for my Pc

Windows 10

I5 4570

Gigabyte H97 gaming 3

8 gb ram

1 tb hdd

Sapphire R9 280x

Corsair Vs650

Also I got this build a year ago so if that might help or anything.

The things I have tried:

1. Trying it on one ram and then one the other and using different Ports but nothing.

2. Removing the graphics care and trying it on the on board but no help. It turns on and without giving any display just turns off. That I think probably points towards psu but I'm open to others solutions as well.

All the help is appreciated

Unplug your computer from power, and take your cmos battery out of your motherboard and leave it out for about 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes put your cmos battery back in and give it a minute or two just to be safe and then plug power back up to your PC and boot.

See if this resolves your issue.

Sorry but I don't know how to do that. Not that much familiar with that

Find this little battery on your motherboard while your system is unplugged from the power, to further insure turn your powersupply off.

Try to pop this little guy out without damaging the plastic around it, it's not too hard but annoying sometimes. A lot easier to put it back in.

Did you leave it out for 15 minutes? Was everything powered off?

edit:

Do you get a bios screen or anything? How did you reinstall windows if you aren't getting any display?

How far into the boot sequence do you get?

Do you have any system fans running?

Any LED's turn on?

Yeah I did leave it for 15 minutes and yes everything was off. I didn't get into the bios but I did get into it earlier but now I can't even get it to bios. It just turns on and the LED's in my Pc does power up but after a 5 second the pc restarts itself and it just keeps on going like that

1. Make sure your CPU 4 or 8 pin power is connected.

2. Make sure all your RAM and anything in your PCIe lanes are seated properly. To insure take them out and put them back in and make sure to hear the appropriate clicks.

3. If still not working, try booting with a single stick of ram.

4. Make sure all your power connectors to your powersupply and where they route to are securely plugged in and seated properly.

5. If still not working, try reseating your CPU, make sure you have some thermal paste however for your cooler, you will need to reapply thermal paste after taking off your current cooler. Make sure to clean both the top of the cpu and your cooler of any thermal paste before applying the new. (when you take your cpu out insure all the pins are fine)

I have already tried that but still nothing.

He did remember to put thw battery back in again right? Just wondering since he cant even get it to bios now after the battery has been out

He said he's been unable to get into the bios even before messing with the battery.

Be sure you placed the battery back in place the correct way and not upside down.

If none of these are working, you maybe looking at a bad motherboard.

That's going to be my best guess for your situation.

Though don't be upset if it isn't a bad motherboard. This kind of issue is VERY hard to resolve to one single part.

Can you please give me a breakdown of all your components? Including peripherals.

A computer will happily boot without a Cmos battery. It just won't save any bios setting made when the power is cut.

So you could if you liked (as I have done in the past) save your correct configured bios settings and load that profile upon every boot.

It's not a race to the bottom.

I'd say start off with replacing your RAM, though typically if it was the ram that wasn't working you'd get an error, however ram is much cheaper than a mobo.

HOWEVER, your mobo is a H97, a bit old tech, maybe replace your mobo and that will resolve your issue. Something like a Z97 should be very compatible.

Though no guarantees that this fixes your issue. However to me it sounds like your motherboard.
