Hello,

My boss just got a new laptop (HP Spectre x360 - Windows 10) and he asked me to install ArchiCAD 14 onto it.

It installs ect, I open it, the boot image pops up and seems like it is opening, then it just doesnt open.

Tried opening as admin and doesnt work.

HOWEVER, it does open fine in Safe Mode.

I was reading an old forum post on an archicad forum where someone said there is probably a background process which is stopping the access to the folder?

Link to forum post incase if it helps: (http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=208086)

I cannot figure out what to do.

Please help!

Hi,

can you post a screenshot off the task manager ??

I looked at some other screenshot and my first guess would be the hp security assistant but a screenshot would probably still help.

Who`s the owner of the ArchiCAD folder ?

(The owner has all the rights)

It is quite a long list, here is a screenshot that shows the HP bits: http://imgur.com/o4WbSew

I tried allowing pretty much everything and everyone full permissions to the folder and still didnt fix.

EDIT: I googled HP security assistant and it seems its been renamed to the support assistant, could be that maybe..

have you stopped the support assisant and checked if Archi worked ?

if it doesn't it could be that you don't have permission to the folder either

So can you check if you can change the read-only option if not you should probably try changing the owner

Hmm support assistant doesnt seem to be the issue.

However I went to check the Security tab for the folder and I cant change the read, its greyed out on Allow.

What do I need to do to change the owner?
