Hello there.

This is a sort of a continuation from this thread here.

Right now I have found a temporary fix, which involves using a Teamspeak channel. The desktop PC that is recording and being gamed on is in the same channel as the ''microphone'' laptop, while having its own mic muted. This allows for a much clearer recording due to Teamspeak's voice activation, which gives me the chance to at least reduce the noise while there is nothing being said.

Obviously, this setup has a huge flaw in that I cannot listen to any ingame audio while recording, otherwise I am hearing myself and you know how disorientating that is.

I was wondering if it was possible to find some sort of software which voice-activates your mic client-side, so to speak. In other words, while recording with Fraps, DXtory or Shadowplay, the mic would only be voice-activated. These capture software have a button-activation feature, sure, but I was wondering if there was another program I could use on top of that which would mute my mic under a certain threshold.

EDIT: I did some more research on this subject. A noise gate, apparently, is what I am looking for.
