Ubuntu Server vs Standard

Okay so I was going to install OSX on a hackintosh but my PC just wont boot it again, even though I got it to work earlier in the year.

Anyways I am going to do my programming on Ubuntu as I don't much care for Windows and I can get VS on Linux anyways.

So my next question is this, should I use the server install and customise the system from the ground up OR just get a standard version?

If you want to customize your system you should go for arch linux. Ubuntu is best used in its "standard" form (although not with unity - never with unity)
