Sorry if this is the wrong section.

I want to buy an optical drive for my computer. I want it to be able to read and write Blu Ray DVDs as well as regular DVDs. Does this describe all Blu Ray readers or are there some that only work with Blu Ray or can't read/write regular DVDs?

Are there any recommendations for a good deal on an optical drive? Also, is there any difference between a nice one and a less expensive one?

For most people, I would generally recommend you don't get an optical drive at all. However, if you have a lot of optical media that you use regularly, then I suppose it's worth it.

Just find the cheapest one that supports Blu-Ray read and write and buy it.
