hey guys just had a weird issue with my pc,

i just started the new payday 2 game after downloading it and within ten minutes my screen flashed and then my graphics card was stuck at 405mhz and 0.917volts. which my standard is 940mhz at 1.18volts

then i decided to restart to try and resolve my issue which was the presented with a plan blue screen with no writing on and crashed. i then pulled my card from the rig and tried on board all is fine. the weird thing is it blue screens once its fully loaded up and loaded up start-up items. im currently in the process of re-installing windows to see if i accidentally clicked the clock speed beyond 950mhz which is when it starts crashing my system.

any ideas would be great, i have sent my problem to asus to see if i get a reply but probably not.

system spec:

sabertooth z77

i7 3770k

8gb corsqir veangance 1866

samsung 830 ssd 128gb os installed

gtx 560 asus direct cuii oc edition

corsair cx600

if it is the end of my graphics card looks like i have an excuse to upgrade to the 760 earlier than planned.

Why would you reinstall windows to see if you clicked the wrong clock? Remove the card, boot from the onboard graphics, temporarily remove the overclocking software if it won't run without a card plugged in, and boot with the card again.

When you use software to overclock, the card does not remember the speeds you set, they are set upon boot by the software, if you remove the software or disable it, whatever clocks you set will not be applied.

Where are you looking for the drivers?

Look in control panel add/remove programs to see if it appears under Nvidia, if it does, uninstall everything green, the run driversweeper, check the Nvidia boxes, clean. Restart the PC then shut it down, then put the card in and boot, if it can boot, windows will then attempt to re install whatever driver you had last installed, then install the latest one over the top of that by just running the installer.

This would be a good start.

Glad it's fixed! Like you said, maybe next time come to the forum before taking drastic measures! :D

ok after installing windows and upgrading to win8 as i had a code i have been issued the same problem after my 3rd restart which caused a bsod boot cycle which windows recovered from after a restore system image to when i installed teamspeak which was the first thing i installed. i made sure not to download the beta graphics drivers but looks like thats not the issue now, and i have no clue to what it could be

What does the BSOD say? Most times it will say on the text display which driver has caused the crash.
