Hello all forumreaders,

I'm new in this forum so if this topic is in the wrong section please move it.

So here is my question: I want to make my own case for a atx standard motherboard.

I have looked around on the internet and watched a couple of Youtube movies.

They sometimes say: " So , I send my google sketchup to the part maker."

And then they open a box and there are the parts.

My question: Where do they send it to????????

Can I do that??

I wouldn't recommend making your own case, it's really not worth it and you will probably be disappointed with the final result.

It seems like a fun project if you already have a case you're happy with lol

i hope you have a large wallet. they're probably sending the drawing to a company that does cnc milling and they are cutting out sheet metal based on the drawings.

Way to encourage the guy to be creative guys. :S Building your own case is entirely possible, I'm in the process of building mine at the moment. It isn't exactly rocket science, but you have to remember your limits. I'm building mine myself with tools and machines available to me, so for me that means no fancy bends etc, but only straight pieces of 8mm and 1mm aluminium sheets. I am getting laser etching done at a local business though. You can use Google SketchUp to draw parts etc, but during the design process it's often better to cut pieces of cardboard to resemble your hardware etc so you have something you can move about and get a feel for their size.

If you can't make your parts yourself take a look around town. Chances are that you have several local businesses that process metal that will happily help you out for a fee, maybe you even know someone who work there. (I had a friends dad help me out with the laser etching.
