What is the difference between the PB278Q and the PB278QR are they the same but newer? 

also are either of these pwm flicker free? how well do they overclock? and is a 780 really enough for 1440p?

The PB278QR is flicker-free and uses a slightly newer panel, but should not be much different looking. The PB278Q uses PWM.

The PB278QR is just a newer model.

 

Not sure about the rest of what you're asking, though, aside from the 780. It's enough for most games.
