Does a higher CPU clock rate affect memory usage on the GPU?

I bought a used GTX 660 SC 2gb and the guy who was using it had some 3.6 ghz processor and everything on high on GTAV. I can do that but with everything on high settings, except the textures make no more memory available on the GPU, and my CPU is at 2.4ghz. Does a higher clockrate = less GPU memory usage?

Please notice me senpie

CPU clocks have nothing to do with VRAM usage.

You have very little actual memory for GTA 5. That's probably why.

I know, but the thing I noticed was that he had the textures and everything else on high settings, and not all of the 2gb was used.

Also, would it be necessary to overclock the x3430 when I'm already getting a good framerate on GTAV? What other things would an overclocked x3430 be used for?

Chances are (this is gonna sound weird as fuck but hear me out) it's using some VRAM to hold some other data into there.

Not exactly sure what that means.

Data that your regular RAM would hold but it doesn't have that amount.

What CPU are you using versus the other person?

I used the Xeon x3430, the other person used the FX 8120.

your 4 GB of ddr3 is limiting you quite a bit considering gta uses like 5-6 GB of ram

and the xeon x3430 is old, it should still somewhat get the job done, but i recommend upgrading.

How much more RAM would I need?

I'd highly recommend you to get another 4gig stick but at least 2 more gigs

I'll just get another 4gb stick for dual channel.
