Slightly strange situation...

Arma_Sektos

So this post concerns an issue between my monitor (Asus ROG Swift PG278Q) and my Playstation4.  I'm looking for a device that I can use to not only pass through the Displayport signal from my video card, but also connect my console via HDMI to the monitor.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You mean like a capture card? I'm pretty confused with this post.

  • AMD Athlon X4 760K CPU   |   MSI FM2+ ATX A88X-G45 Motherboard   |   8GB 1600MHz RAM   |   MSI GTX 760 GPU (Reference)
  • Thermaltake Versa H22 Case   |   1TB Seagate, 0.5TB Hitachi (7200RPM)   |   ArcticRed+ 700WStock    |   Windows 8.1

You mean you want to connect both your PC and PS4 to the same monitor?  Or are you looking for a video capture card so that you can record the PS4 game play with your PC?

Uhm as far as i can tell, your monitor only has one input, the HDMI right? So you want to plug both you playstation 4 and your computer into this display, using HDMI for the playstation and a display port cable for the PC right?

Since you only have one input on your monitor i would use a HDMI switch and plug one HDMI cable from you playstation into that, and then get a cable that is HDMI to Display port, and use that for your computer to switchbox.

Your post was a bit confusing, mine might be as well. This might not be what you're looking for. This allows you to plug playstation and computer into the monitor.

This is basically what I want to do, yes.

I know.  I'm trying to find a device that I can connect to my monitor (Displayport jack) that has both a Displayport jack AND an HDMI jack.

Well, it's a Displayport jack, but you're basically right.

Sorry for the confusing initial post, I'm not sure exactly what I was thinking at the time where the wording was concerned.  There's a catch I apparently didn't make clear: I don't want to use HDMI from my computer to the monitor, only the PS4 should be connected HDMI.  The PC should stay on Displayport.  There might not be a solution for this, and if there's not, I'll cope.  I was curious about the idea though, and I couldn't find anything specifically like what I'm looking for on my own.  Thanks for all the help though, you guys are awesome.
