Windows 10 Upgrade Help Pls.

So i reformatted my windows 7 pc and it didn't take the product key it came with because it's oem, so i bought windows 10 but how do i upgrade from 7 to 10 without losing my data. I don't see the icon in the tray and I do have a legit Windows 10 key but my current windows 7 is not activated.

Go to th microsoft website and download the media installation.

Use the media creation tool.

You won't be able to because to Microsoft you never bought Windows 7 so you'll never get the windows icon to upgrade. Also most pre-machines have the windows product key on them.

No, it will give you an option to update over windows and keep your stuff.

I do not think so, When I did it I decided to do a clean install because I wanted to remove all the bloatware and stop any issues from happenign with drivers and stuff when I upgraded.

I updated using the creation tool, didn't lose any data and haven't run into any problems yet.
