Anyone have experience getting an Xbox 360 controller to work on a PC? I have the adaptor, but the controller doesn't seem to connect.

I have the driver, I have the controller (new batteries and all), and I have the options in games set for controller. I pressed the connect buttons (and it connected properly) Any ideas?

NOTE: The green ring DOES flash the entire time; could that be it?

Do you have a wireless receiver or a Plug and Play adapter? (the wire)

The green ring flashing all the time means that it can't find hardware to connect to. I had the same issue and resulted in buying a wireless receiver. You can get them for I think around 20 bucks. This worked for me anyway. Hope this helps you out :)

I did it in windows 7, now run windows 10

If you're in Windows 10 read this,

Is this a wireless controller? If so go to device manager>Xbox 360 Peripherals>Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver For Windows>Update Driver Software>Browse my computer for driver software>Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer>There should be two versions for Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver, Try the top one, if it doesn't work repeat the steps and try the bottom one

you need a wireless reciever so your PC can use the bluetooth option with your wireless controller.....something like this..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1KT2J01458&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Wireless+Accessories-_-9SIA1KT2J01458&gclid=CjwKEAjwpuSvBRDSkaes4OasuEESJACfwIc_jP-Akl365AisV8xarzqlG20KHBm8aUbQFElQkvzCxxoCDgHw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

plug n play will not work.....xbox 360 controllers do not have bluetooth....therefore you need the wireless reciever to read your controller

Just found it in the device manager as "uninstalled driver"

Any idea on how to fix?

Doing the one from the MS website says "driver already installed"

"1) Install Microsoft's 360 controller software. If you Google "microsoft 360 drivers" it will be the second hit from the top.

2) With receiver plugged in, go to Device Manager > Other Devices.

3) You should see an Unknown Device. Uninstall its drivers.

4) Unplug receiver, then plug it back in.

5) You should see the same Unknown Device reappear under Other Devices.

6) Update Drivers for Other Device.

7) Select "Browse my computer for device software" then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

8) Choose Microsoft as the manufacturer, then look towards the bottom of the list for "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows" and install the software.

9) At this point (hopefully) you should be able to sync the devices together."

I have xbox 360 peripherals and xbox peripherals in the list. nothing under xbox 360 wireless receiver for windows.

Which do I choose?

Wireless yes, and I think 2015 would be the most updated if you mean the driver.

Receiver or wireless? I'm going to try receiver.

I wrote it out this time instead of doing a copy pasta.

Just use code view? Formatting doesnt get pasted in and its far easier to remove it.

I meant it was faster to just copy and paste.

yes and if you would have pasted in code view on the forum it wouldnt have transferred any formatting ;)
