Asus P5QC-PRO 5years old

Core 2 duo 2.93ghz

8gb ddr2 ram

250gb hdd

Gigabyte gt240 1GB DDR3

Seasonic x650 gold 80+ psu fully modular 2 1/2 yrs old

(I know i know its a crappy ass system from ancient history, though im in the process of upgrading to a haswell-e i wanted to see if the psu can be used again)

The system worked fine for over 4 years, until a few months ago i tried to oc the cpu and gpu. Since then it would BSOD and shutdown. Eventually didnt turn on at all. However without the GPU the system turns on fine, i can hear all the beeps on the mobo, but with the gpu installed it turns on for a half a second then turns off and does not turn on no matter how hard i try.

Based on my troubleshooting. I have 4 possible causes for this

1. Mobo pcie slot is faulty or shorting

2. Gpu has a short

3. PSU faulty: unable to provide enough power to the system with gpu installed to.turn it on or psu faulty

4. All of the above

I really want the psu since its just 2 1/2 years into its 7 year warranty. Plus being a good quality one.

So help me out guys.

it didnt oc at all, i was just messing around with it

Well then I'd say the likely culprit is the gpu breaking, it could be the psu but I'm leaning towards the gpu, if you have a multimeter or know someone who does you can check the psu, if it's not that then your gpu is broken, oh and you can check the motherboard in a similar manner got class hopefully someone else can help more
