CPU Throttle GPU

Go to solution Solved by austinjklimzxz,

90c. its actually the same whether im on extended monitors or single monitor. My fps on games keep drop due to throttled cpu in which is throttling my gpu usage.

After much research, I finally conclude the problem. Its the "BD PROCHOT" that is throttling my cpu speed to 0.75 ghz.

In order to fix this issue, just install ThrottleStop from TechPowerUp.

Run it then untick "BD PROCHOT" from the checkbox on the left.

And voila everything is back to normal.

But beware of your temps as the safety feature to prevent the laptop from overheating is now turned off.

Don't say I didnt blame you :) have a nice day

And thanks to those who gave me feedback :)

Im on Acer Aspire V15 Nitro i7 4720hq Gtx860m 2gb gddr5 with 8gb of ram

Currently experiencing cpu throttling. When i play a dota 2 or FF 13-2 on my laptop, the fps really drops due to underutilized gpu usage which i think its due to the throttled cpu speed.

Scenario 1 : FF 13-2

Just turn on my laptop, everything running, then I opened FF13-2 with AC on, High performance. While loading CPU speed is at 3.2ghz+ (which is turbo max) but when it goes into the game, the speed drops and cpu speed maintains at lowest 0.75ghz.

Scenario 1.2 : Dota 2

Just like the above, im getting 20 fps on dota 2.

After much monitoring, i've realised that when i plugged in my AC and put into high performance mode, my cpu clocks will be at max of 3.2ghz+-, putting at balance result in a low 0.75ghz if nothing is running then runs up if games are opened, power saver trying to maintain that low cpu speed.

Been having this problem for a month and so far no fixes. Just clean formatted my laptop with nvidia latest drivers and still having this problem.

I can provide more info if needed. Thanks :)
