Hi

Ive been looking for a laptop and this was the only place i knew to go to

I want a good gaming laptop and i dont know where to start searching...

I know msi has 1000000 laptops so idk what a good laptop is cause specs arent everything (Not looking for msi specific any brand is good)

My brother had a custom one from maingear which has been a good experience for him so far

do you guys know any sites/manufacturers/laptops that i could take a peak at

(Keep in mind im from holland, shipping fees arent the biggest deal but i would like to keep that at a minimum)

Budget isnt that big a deal, 1500 euros or less would be preferable

Thank you very much in advance!

For gaming? look a GTX 965m as a minimum. Else it's not going to perform well in games.

look for a laptop with a 970m MINIMUM (even linus agrees) and an i7 (almost always paired with the 970m). look at a gigabyte laptop. i think they have some in your price range

You need to decide a few things before you can do much shopping.

First, how portable does it need to be?  If you plan to carry it to school everyday, you probably want 15" or smaller, and very thin.  Light weight often means poor cooling, which can cause thermal throttling (system gets too hot and has to slow down - this makes your high end components pretty much a waste of money).  Light weight with good cooling usually means very noisy.

If you don't need to carry it around very often, and want a large screen and are OK with heavy and bulky, there are laptops with very good cooling that run quiet under load without any thermal throttling.

Second, what resolution and panel type do you want?  I find 1080p on any laptop is plenty of resolution, but you can get much higher on some models.  More pixels = lower frame rates.  Do you want an IPS panel, or are you OK with a TN?

Decide what size category you want, and what specs you want.  From there you can compare models.

i7 4790k @4.7 | GTX 1070 Strix | Z97 Sabertooth | 32GB  DDR3 2400 mhz | Intel 750 SSD | Define R5 | Corsair K70 | Steel Series Rival | XB271, 1440p, IPS, 165hz | 5.1 Surround

Im not too picky but i have an idea of what i want ofc

It doesnt have to be THAT portable, was thinking about either 15 or 17 inches doesnt really matter.

I am a huge media consumer, so thats a big factor thinking about screens and sizes

So bigger will be a bit better but not too big of a difference

Being able to watch movies etc at 4k is awesome something i would like to do but again doesnt really matter

Slim is something i would rather have because im not a fan of bulky laptops, for carrying around and just looking at or having on my lap.

Im not a picky guy coming from a really really bad pc im not too picky. Anything is good for me as long as it gets the job done

ill be a happy fella with a upgrade from my current 5 fps to 15
