I have an LG, anything will do for a DVD reader, they are only like 15 - 20 bucks.

My Asus one died after 1 month, I don't know what is wrong with it, so maybe not asus.

pioneer only makes BD drives now

and even those aren't actually made by pioneer

Just get the cheapest drive from a decent brand that does what you want it to do

 

The LG WH14NS40 is 50$ on Amazon and does pretty much everything you could want, but if you don't care about Blu Ray you could probably get something even cheaper
