Browser Impression for School, formatting help?

Just wondering about formatting, anyone able to help?

I am a tech head so I have heard or used most of the browsers. Unfortunately, because of how I have my PC set up I could not test two of the browsers, and I feel like in order to get a good feel for most of the browsers you need more then a few days of using only them to get a good feeling of it. The two browsers I was unable to use were Safari because I do not have an iOS X computer and don't feel like pirating it, buying the parts for a new PC, and making a Hackantosh. The second is IE because I am on Windows 10 and have disabled what ever was there of IE because of Project Spartan(Edge). I do have a second computer that I ran a few test on for IE though. My computer specs will be at the bottom of the page, but for now lets get into a what I think about the browsers and the scores.

Chrome:

Chrome is my daily driver after Firefox started to refuse to play YouTube videos. It is a fast responsive browser that likes to hog ram, one of the reasons I don't like to use it. The browser supports add ons so you can customize your experience to how you like it. Over all layout of the browser is nice and easy to use. One feature of Chrome is being able to sync your setting and add ons between all computers you have signed your Google account into. Nice for when you buy a new computer and don't want to spend time setting your browser back up. Chrome is my daily driver right now due to it actually being able to play Youtube videos. Over all a good browser, but if you want to have RAM left over while using your browser go with Firefox.

Browsermark Score: 4963 (Higher the better)

Memory Usage-Idle: 68 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Memory Usage-Six tab Load: 994 Megabytes(Lower the better)

IE:

This is the browser Microsoft put down because it was so bad. It is slow and only used to download Firefox or Chrome. The lay out is confusing and most of the setting are in your system setting for some odd reason. No extensions or customization, a lot like Safari but really crappy. Thankfully it was put out of its misery.

Browsermark Score: 2814* (Higher the better)

Memory Usage-Idle: 15 Megabytes (Lower the better)

Memory Usage-Six tab Load: 873 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Project Spartan(Edge):

The replacement of IE. Better lay out and easier to use, and is also faster and and over all better then IE. Project Spartan allows Firefox extensions or Chrome Add ons to be used on the browser with very little editing from the coder. It could use a bit of optimisation and clean up around the edges in some places. Still has a bit to go in order to catch up to Firefox or Chrome, but a very good first version of the new browser from Microsoft. Over all a very good step away from IE for Microsoft and is leagues better, but that was not very hard to do...

Browsermark Score: 2883* (Higher the better)

Memory Usage-Idle: 53 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Memory Usage-Six tab Load: 1266 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Firefox:

Firefox is like Linux if Chrome was Windows, open source and able to be modded to your hearts content. The browser works with anything you throw at it, except Youtube. You can customize the look or even what you can do with it. Like Chrome, you can log into Firefox and have your setting and even tabs synced between all computers and even cell phones that you log in with. Firefox used to be my daily driver, but due to Youtube not working on it I switched. This is the only reason or else I would still be using it. Over all,  a very good browser if you like to customize everything or just want a light weight fast browser.

Browsermark Score: 3703 (Higher the better)

Memory Usage-Idle: 99 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Memory Usage-Six tab Load: 516 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Opera:

At first I was going to say this was a Chrome v2.0, but then I started to play around with it. The first thing I realized was it saved your tabs when you quit out so when you launch the browser it reloads were you left off, a really nice feature in my mind. The speed of pages loading seems to be very similar to Firefox even though it is built off of Chrome. When you open a new tab were most browsers but a frequently visited sites square thingy, they have what they call "Speed Dial". To me it seems like the frequently visited sites but you choose what is there. If you sign in you can also sync the tabs between computers and even phone I believe, like Firefox but Opera does it better. Over all it is easy to use like Safari and not really customizable like Firefox or Chrome. How it operates makes me feel like I am using Firefox or Chrome, so it is like a hybrid of all three. Personally I would not recommend using. I ran into a lot of issues trying to get it to work and it did crash a lot.

Browsermark Score: N/A*

Memory Usage-Idle: 102 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Memory Usage-Six tab Load: 787 Megabytes(Lower the better)

Safari:

What I remember from using it about 6 years ago, very simple look and easy to use. Worked very well if you just wanted a browser and not wanted to customize it, really what Apple is known for. Final thought, it is Apple, what do you expect?

Browsermark: N/A

Memory Usage-Idle: N/A

Memory Usage-Six tab Load: N/A

*Browsermark either crashed or locked up this browser one or more times.

All Browsermark tests were run with a Chrome window of this Create Thread page and a Youtube Window playing music, so scores will probably be higher if you try. Memory numbers were used from LinusTechTips video "Web Browser Performance Showdown – Edge vs Chrome vs IE11 vs Opera".

My Computer Specs:

  • CPU: AMD FX-8320 @ 4.2GHz
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair H100
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
  • Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB@1866MHz
  • GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC
  • Boot Drive: Crucial BX100 250GB
  • Mass Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB
  • Display: AOC I2269VW 22" 1080p

This is probably gibberish to most of you, but figured I would post so you know what I got the numbers with. Sorry if these seemed like reviews, but if I did opinions/impressions each one would have ended up with "It is a browser, this one sucks, this one you can customize." Mostly because I have used all but one and am just so used to them.

(I haven't logged in in years, I have to update this)

My PC Spec:

get rid of the YouTube problem in Firefox.

Firefox:

Firefox is like Linux if Chrome was Windows, open source and able to be modded to your hearts content. The browser works with anything you throw at it and handles it well. You can customize the look or even what you can do with it. Like Chrome, you can log into Firefox and have your setting and even tabs synced between all computers and even cell phones that you log in with.  So something like this?

iOS X isn't a thing. Its just OS X. iOS is for mobile devices ie. the iphone and ipad. Just a little technicality. Apart from that it looks good.

Maybe exclude the bit about "not wanting to pirate it" with relation to not testing safari, just say "i don't own an OSX computer"

Because, most of the IT teachers are ok about pirating but some can be a bit finicky about it, and it doesn't look very professional.
