Quiet CPU/GPU, Case fan cooling.

Go to solution Solved by Homicidium,

Am I right with the understanding that you've already bought the GPU?

If not, then I would recommend you to spend the little extra and getting the HD7970 from Gigabyte. Their Windforce is decently quiet, performs well and doesn't break the bank.

Aftermarket VGA Coolers are usually a waste of money really, some are good, some are bad. But again, the more senseable and cheaper way would be to buy a GPU with a decent cooler on it, rather than saving on the card and buying an VGA Cooler afterwards.

Arctic Cooling does okay cooling solutions imho, they're not great, but not bad either. If you want a very good and quiet CPU - Cooler, you should go for either a Noctua or beQuiet! - Solution. If you swap out the fans on a Hyper 212, it can be quiet as well.

Pretty much the same goes for the case fans, either the Noctua that you've posted, or Silent Wings from beQuiet!

*LOTS OF QUESTIONS*

I am looking to upgrade my computer and was looking to get my PC more quiet than right now. It all started with me wanting to upgrade my GPU (Sapphire Radeon HD7970) and then me wanting it to be quiet. I was looking around and found some GPU/CPU aftermarket coolers and was wondering if they are a good solution for my gaming needs. With my GPU, I have heard that most stock fans that come with GPU's are pretty loud so I decided to get a aftermarket cooler for it. I also heard that with the CPU it is a good idea to upgrade from the stock cooler. I was looking around and found this particular cooler called the "ARCTIC Freezer A30 Extreme CPU Cooler" and was wondering if this is a good aftermarket cooler efficiency/quietness wise. Looked around some more and found this GPU aftermarket cooler called the "GELID Solutions Icy Vision"  Found a case fan i liked and heard that its a really quiet and efficient case fan called the "Noctua NF-F12"  So all in all I was wondering if those together would make a really quiet fan setup for my PC.

Have you already used the GPU? I would try it out before replacing the cooler.

I do not know if the CPU-cooler has a quiet fan, but if you buy NF-F12's then you might want a matching CPU cooler (NH-U14s or NH-U12s).

I am using a NH-U12s, NF-F12 and a GPU with an Asus direct CU 2 cooler. This are all quiet components, the loudest part of my system is the PSU (from Corsair not sure which one).

I have yet to use this GPU but I am thinking of overclocking it. I will look into getting the NH-U14s or the NH-U12s if it is more effective.

I have yet to use this GPU but my friend has and it is decently quiet but I want a quiet as possible gaming setup. I switch to getting a Noctua NH-U12s and case fan. From what i hear on this VGA cooler it is supposed to be whisper silent or so what the reviews said. I don't want a decently quiet card. I want as quiet as possible.

Sapphire cards can get quiet noisy, especially when overclocked. Again, if you haven't bought the card yet, buy a HD7970 with a better cooling solution. ASUS and Gigabyte are the go - to brands here. Especially Gigabyte Windforce cooler are very quiet, even under load and you have decent overclockability. HIS would be another option.

Again, if you want something "whisper quiet" then there's no other way but to go W/C

If you want the best performance/quietest operation the HIS would be probably my personal pick. If you want to overclock then the Gigabyte is your pick.

NF-F12 is (for me) the best fan on the market, so you're not really making anything wrong with Noctua.
