Web Desktops? (web os)

I've been looking into web desktops for some time now since that is what I call real cloud computing, doing all of your work somewhere else. But what is the best web desktop/web os out there? currently I'm running Symbiose on my server (for those who want to take a look: http://zubins-solutions.com/services/symbiose/ )  but it is a bit limited in capabilities. So is there a better one available? (which you can host yourself)

 

Also, I want to know in general, what is your opinion on web desktops? any experience? and is there a future for them with things like chromebooks becoming more popular?
