M.2 tech Board vs Card

I've seen some items and was curious M.2 SSD drives on the motherboard vs PCI card adapter vs SATA adapter would the benchmarks be the same or different

Lets get bets before Linus decides to do a video with actual results pending interest!

My guesses are in this order

1 Motherboard directly

2 PCI adapter

3 SATA adapter

Also maybe 2 different chips most I've seen are 500-540 read 500 write but Kingston Hyper X Predator up to 1400 read 600 write!

On board is always fasted, but the pcie and is very close.
