Hello all,

I know this question has been asked a ton, but I am also looking for a bit of confirmation as to my thoughts on an upgrade for a secondary rig.  Firstly, I run 980TI sli on my main X99 rig.  With that said, I built another machine back in June for my 110-inch project setup.  That computer is utilizing an i5-4590, Gigabyte H97, EVGA Supernova GS 650, EVGA GTX 970 SSC (warranty replacement from EVGA as there was a 780 SC at first).  My projector is a 1080P projector, so based on that theory, the 970 SSC should do just fine.  At least that's how I remember my 970 FTW cards performing in a desktop environment at 1080P.  I have the opportunity to purchase a reference 980 SC from a local microcenter for $400 with a rebate which the main reason I was contemplating this.  Now, as I said in my previous comments, the 970 should be fine and maybe the main system itself could use a bit a performance boost.  Say something like Z97 and 4790K or Z170 and 6600k.

I am targeting playing on the projector at high settings (I can drop things down if need be).  Going to continue playing Project Cars, BF4, Dying Light, Metal Gear Solid V, GTA just to name a few.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the help.
