Memory vs Bit-Interface vs Price to Performance...

Go to solution Solved by Rylie59,

You can't just compare memory and bit interface to determine performance, it's more about the gpu itself. Though you can't go wrong with more memory, it'd just get more expensive. You should look at the game benchmarks for the graphics cards you want and use that to determine what's best for you. If you can get a card with 3 or 4 GB in your price range then I would go for that. I guess it also depends on how soon you plan on upgrading after that.

So basically my question is this.. When it comes to gaming should I be looking at both the amount of memory & bit-interface or does one matter more than the other? I will be doing gaming so no like movie editing or anything etc..

I'm looking forward to playing the following titles and I want to eventually get a GTX 970 but $$ is a factor.. I have an old 550 Ti right now but feel that it's old and I should maybe get something in the mean time while I wait for more money to build up later to get the 970

Star Citizen

The Division
Dreadnought

&

Overwatch

Any ideas on what I should look for? I keep seeing these 128 or 192 bit cards and then like the 970 I see 256. and then some cards have 2GB or memory and the 970 has 4 or (3.5)...

Any suggestions / feedback?

Comparing graphics cards isn't as simple as looking at spreadsheets. The best info you'll get is looking at benchmarks, keeping in mind that even if a mid range card is getting less than 60 FPS in those, you don't HAVE to max the game.
