ssd question

Go to solution Solved by bartekxx12,

Oh then i weill have a problem i have almost half of my drive filled with steam games... Is there a way to do this without uninstalling all my games.

Yes, assuming you only have one drive, you can create another partition on your current one. So you will have C and D. Then just move your Game Library in Steam onto the D partition.

Here are the instructions for making a new partition - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/gg309170.aspx

Except that you will need to right click your C volume first and select shrink.

So i am going to be buying an ssd today and a new case. I was going to go with a samsung 840 120gb for my os and a few games. Is that good for my os? Also what should i use to move my os to the ssd? Any help would be great.

Yes, the Samsung 840 SSD is a great choice.

As for moving your OS, the SSD will come with Samsung's data migration software. Or you can download the latest version from here, the program is very easy to use - http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/samsungssd/downloads.html

The Samsung 840 is one of the best SSD's you can buy, your OS and a few games will be fine on it.

No, using Samsung's program (assuming you have no more than around 110GB of used space on your current drive) will cause no problems with Windows or any programs, everything will run as it did before except... much much faster.
