IT or Security Concentration?

Kinuubi

Hey all. I've run into a dilemma. I was originally going to be both concentrations, but I am thinking about focusing on just one. I like both and do not know much about each so far. Is anyone an experienced IT and/or Security person that can list me some pros and cons, and also a list of jobs on which I could get with them too. I googled them, but I would like some more people's opinion. Thanks guy!

The security engineers are the top of the food chain at the banks. They are respected by everyone and make a ton of money. Securities is they way to go IMO.

A security engineer is like a cyber cop? I asked my adviser and she said security does not have that much coding? I found that hard to believe though. I like coding and all, but I don't want to rack my brain looking through a code to see what's wrong.

IMO focusing on security makes you seem better, in terms of IT, as long as you are already a competent developer.

I suspect most companies want to not be destroyed by hackers.

BTW, if you're in Ontario, don't claim to be an engineer without a license. The PEO can take severe legal action here.
