so my camera has an hdmi out, and like many others my pc has usb. i would like to use my camera as a webcam, is this possible? thanks

Well, there exist Timeleak capture devices, which connect to a computer's PCIe slot with a short connector.

I can't provide a link to the one I found, since eBay links are against the CoC, but it was a Timeleak HD72a.

 

They're the only cheap ones out there, really. I would recommend you try to amass a larger budget for something from Hauppauge or AverMedia or something, since Timeleak is a brand I have zero knowledge of.

Are you still going on about how to use your Sony NEX3 as a webcam?  Why don't you just get a proper webcam?
