Choosing a PSU

Hello world , I think I will be needing a new PSU since my current one is 7-8 years old and it's getting a bit tired.

I won't be needing anything fancy , just something to power a normal PC with a GT 640 and a Q9550 so here's what I came up to:

1. Segotep ATX-500WH

    > I can't find the manufacturer page for this one.

2. Deepcool DE480 350W

   > manufacturer page

  de480-480w-6605b787c2e21ad36832087f3d655

Both have a max power of 300W on the +12V line but one has a single rail of 25A (segotep) and the other has two rails of 15A each.

Another difference is that one has active PFC and the other has passive PFC , and the deepcool one has some extra protections ( I think ).

So, overall, which one is better ?

Yea , pretty much, these are the best I could find within that budget.

I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending either one of those power supplies. I would say save up and buy from a more reputable brand such as corsair, or evga. they have some great budget-oriented power supplies such as the cx series or w1 series

Both of them cost about 30$ so . . .you can't expect much , all i need to know is which one is better out of the two.

The sogotep is a no name psu, no idea who manufactured it, i highly doubt it can deliver anywhere near 500w without exploding.

Deepcool is a somewhat solid brand that also sells high end psus. The oem (should be CWT) makes quality products, for example a lot of corsair stuff.

So id go with the Deepcool, I havent seen a review of that particular psu but id wager it can deliver the rated current with 75-80 % efficiency.

Id suggest you add some money for something like a seasonic 430w bronze if you want something that is reliable and last several years.

Spend a little extra for this evga one, 80+ rated 34.99 after MIR at NCIXUS, or 39.99 on Newegg.

@Alvie

Yes , I can see that the EVGA one is better , but it costs over 60$ here and I don't need all of that , I just need a simple PSU that can run a low-medium graphics card and an intel quad processor, the ones i found are good for the job but the brands are shady.
