I've recently overclocked my CPU using MSIs software (command center) and the temps were fine @ 4.4ghz but you have to enable it everytime you boot and it's a pain in the ass so I ventured onto Youtube and figured out how to successfully overclock via the bios. Currently, as of writing this message, the temps shown by AIDA64 are 40 °C  (104 °F) on the CPU and 46 °C  (115 °F) on Core 1-8, note that I only have Microsoft Edge, AIDA64, Realtek Audio Manager and Nvidia GeForce Control Panel as well as the default background programs. My case is a NZXT S340 with the 2 default fans and the radiator of the H100i mounted at the front. Through the bios I'm now at 4.3ghz with +.230 voltage. I was interested in lowering my temps because as far as I'm concerned, 45 degrees is stupid high when Vishera cpus can only stand temps up to 60 ish degrees. This is without playing any demanding games/stress testing. If it's any help as well, I am running a GTX 970 Strix so the fans from that aren't usually on as well as a EVGA SuperNova 650w PSU. Thanks for any responses.

If those are the temps under load, you're fine. My custom loop reaches 55C under load at 1.5v. I wouldn't worry  about it. Idle should be 30 - 40C on the high end. You could always try reapplying thermal paste. Try to get that thing to 4.6Ghz. I know you can do it without much of a volate bump (unless you were real unlucky with the silicon lottery).

Those were the temps with a minimal amount of programs open, no stress, under load it reached well into the 70s.

Yep those temps are very high. What's the exact voltage on your CPU? 1.38v?

I would try reapplying the thermal paste. Can you hear the pump spinning?

1.56, at 4.3ghz.

I cannot hear the pump spinning.

When I first got the H100i idle was at 12 degrees at stock speeds if that helps.

1.56v!? Dude that's way too high. That's basically the max and of course you're going to hit 70C. Bring it down to stock speeds AND voltages. JayzTwoCents has a basic beginner guide that should get you to 4.6Ghz with minimal voltage. Maybe around 1.42v

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it :)! Got it running at 4.6ghz @1.44v under load at 48 degrees and 28 idle.

Wow nice! 4.6Ghz is great and will boost the performance of your CPU by a fair amount. I know it did for me. Great temps as well. You're welcome!
