found a macbook

So while my weekly dumpster diving at my buddy apartment (he lives near a college). I found a older macbook. A white one i do believe it is a MacBook 4,1. After finding using a my buddy charger to see if it turns on. It charged up and started working. I found out that its running the os 10.6.8. Now not be a tech savvy mac guy (kind of a hard core pc gamer). I found out that on wikipedia that it can only be upgraded to 10.7. Now my question is it worth playing the 20 dollars from apple for the upgrade or should i just keep using it with the OS thats on it. Like I said i am a pc gamer so i know little about macs

thats what i thought my friend got the last two for free but when i tried to update it said that i need to pay 20 dollars

Sell it on eBay (they go for a lot because of their parts)

Sell it. Macbooks are only worth it for the parts, I don't find them to be very good computers to just use for stuff. More than happy to use my blade server/screenless laptop over one of those things, because it's not really worth the hassle for me. That $20 is an Apple Tax. Don't do it. Just sell the laptop.
